Objectives:

Before using this tool, coalition and/or campaign leaders should have a clearly defined campaign or coalition goal and an established ladder of engagement that outlines pathways for members to deepen their involvement over time. More information on how to create a ladder of engagement can be found here. It is also recommended that a power analysis is conducted at some point during the campaign and level of influence is added to the tracker.

Tips for using the tracking tool:

  1. Fill out the One-to-One Contact & Leadership Development Tracker before and after the 1:1, so you can be fully present with the individual.
  2. Only record information that is relevant to follow-up, relationship-building, and future organizing. Focus on key motivations, concerns, barriers, and next steps.
  3. Be mindful of privacy when filling out the tracking tool. Even if notes are primarily for internal use, organizers should be mindful about what they choose to document.
